Anti ligature LCD enclosures protect people and hardware.
One of the basics of any facility that cares for mental ill patients, is that the facility is designed correctly, recently anti ligature LCD enclosures have been featured in many new designs, to ensure that the facilities are fit for purpose.
When we have in our care, the most vulnerable people with mental health issues, we have to provide a safe and secure environment, this is why these protective housings are part of the hospital design, to prevent suicides or self harm.
Hospital management realize the importance of these protective enclosures, now patients can enjoy various therapies such as sensory rooms, using the flat screen to display various colors to calm the patient. This is a “safe place”, for the patient as well as healthcare staff, as the flat screen TV is protected even from the most physical attack.
Why use these anti ligature LCD enclosures?
When an unprotected screen is smashed, the shards of broken TV can be used by the patient to either harm themselves or others, there has been several cases when such incidents have occurred, with healthcare staff and other patients being attacked with shards of glass.
Putting the flat panel TV into a steel, protective enclosure prevents this happening and ensures the working environment for the healthcare staff is the best possible, as well as ensuring patients safety. TV protection could not be simpler.
Solutions for protecting TVs.
There are several units on the market, that are classed as antiligautre TV housings, one of the first is the sloped top LCD enclosure. The problem with this type of solution is that material can be looped around a sloped top unit as the base is flat and therefore a looping issue! The best solution is a unit that has all 4 sided sloping, so no material can loop around the TV housing, as you can see from the video below, is a torn blanket as used instead of wrapping material a loop can be formed around the sloped top of the housing, causing a problem.
